What is Masters Swimming?

Organized, coached swimming workouts for ages 18+. Team environment provides inspiration while national affiliation offers an avenue for competing at meets for those who wish to.

When

Morning swim times are Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30-6:30AM, and Fridays at 5:15AM - 6:30AM (except during summer...see "Where" below).

Evening practice sessions run from early November (Nov. 10, 2008) into April on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 6:00-7:00PM.

Check back to see when we won't practice due to university holidays.

Where

At the University of Idaho Swim Center in Moscow, Idaho. Sixth Street to Rayburn Dr. East of the Kibbie Dome off parking lot #39. Enter thru Memorial Gym south doors.

When the UI pool has its summer shutdown (typically July - mid-August) we swim outdoors at the Hamilton-Lowe Aquatic Center on Mtn View Rd. at 'F' St. from 5:45AM-7AM.

Who

Swimmers of all abilities are welcome. Workouts vary depending on the swimmer's ability and need. Typically we will swim 2,000-4,000 yards per day.

Cost

The cost is $100/four month trimester (Jan-Apr, May-Aug, Sept-Dec) or $65 for students (form). That fee covers our coaching and pool rental costs. We also require that all swimmers register with United States Master Swimming (USMS) for an annual fee of $35 (form). That fee covers individual insurance, program insurance, a national magazine, a regional newsletter, and the ability to swim in meets and other fitness events.

Parking in lot #39 is most convenient, but morning swimmers do need an Master Swim - Early Morning parking permit. See "Forms" for more info.

Why

For many swimmers getting in the pool on a regular basis comes down to being expected on practice days, as well as variety in the workouts.

Great Coaching

Our coach is Katrina Finley, a graduate student in Food Science at the University of Idaho, who is often found cycling when she's not on the pool deck.
