USMS Short Course Nationals, Federal Way, WA - May 17-20 2007

The Chinooks were lucky to have the 2007 USMS Short Course Nationals meet practically in their backyard...compared to California, Texas or Florida, that is. Eleven Chinooks travelled to Federal Way to compete and watch as records were broken and inspirational performances were given by many of the 1400 total participants.

Many thanks to Charlie Gerke, who put many of us up in his family's home near Gig Harbor, and to Kyra Martin, who organized the Seattle Mariners baseball game outing.

Friday night, May 18th, many of us went to the Seattle Mariners game vs the San Diego Padres. Kyra's brother had input as to which groups got recognized on the Big Screen that night.

We as a team got special recognition!

And here we are in the bleachers. In the back is Amber Saval, Katrina Finley, Lance Hamma, Charlie Gerke, and Kyra Martin. Next to some guy in a black/red jacket is Barb Cosens (hidden) and Gene Allwine. Front and center are Tom Lamar and Aly Lamar.

Lance Hamma swam a Personal Record in the 100 butterfly, just breaking 1:00.0. This is probably his 50 butterfly swim.

On Saturday night, things got a little wild at the "Island Chateau." Lance and Bob were doing a good job of keeping Kara Gleckler from studying for the Idaho Bar exams. If you look closely, just off Lance's right shoulder you'll see Roy Berg's medal for not swimming the Men's 18-24 200 Free relay.

Paige Buehler - 50 backstroke, with Kara Gleckler awaiting her swim just behind the block.
